Nikki played in a round of 32 and was seeded #5.
The first and second rounds on Saturday were tough matches to play, but Nikki came through beating Mia Gonzalgo 6-1; 6-1, and then Hayden Bethea 6-3; 6-4.
On Sunday, Nikki played a 3 hour match in the Quarterfinals against Maria Rizzolo, the #4 seed. The match went to a 3rd set tiebreak where Nikki was down 8-5 and fought back to win 5 straight points for the 10-8 win. 5-7; 6-4; 10-8.
After an exhausting 3 hour match in the Quarterfinals, Nikki had to be ready to play in the Semifinals in 1 hour against the #2 seeded player Rachele Rimondini.
We didn’t have enough time to refuel or rehydrate sufficiently – Nikki played the best she could. She started out strong and was close to being up 3-0 but lost the third game and just didn’t have anymore strength ending the match 6-3; 6-0.
Nikki continued in the Playoffs on Monday, with her opponent the #1 seed Anna Babayan. After a good nights rest and a great warm up in the morning with her brother Vince right before the match, Nikki was ready to go. She played great tennis and Won the Playoffs 7-5; 6-2.
